Terms of service

In short: free tools made by an enthusiast, with no account and no advertising. Use it however you like, including for a campaign that earns you something. It does some arithmetic and offers opinions: the last word on what happens at the table is always the referee's, not the program's. There is no guarantee that it works, that it stays online, or that the numbers are right for your game.
What this covers
These terms apply to tirateiniziativa.com and to the tools hosted on its subdomains: the D&D Encounter Balancer, HexJourney and the Curse of Strahd Tarokka Randomizer. The last two do not answer at those addresses yet; when they do, what is written here already applies to them.
Who offers them, and to whom
The service is offered by TirateIniziativa as non-commercial fan content. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it — there is nothing else to do, because there is no account to close.
What it costs, and what it asks
Nothing and nothing. No payment, no sign-up, no advertising and no personal data collected — the privacy notice goes into the detail.
The numbers are an opinion, not a referee
Thresholds, multipliers, difficulties, suggested Challenge Ratings and treasure are formulas applied to the data you enter. They help you decide; they do not decide. An encounter that reads “medium” here can wipe the party out given the terrain, and a “deadly” one can be over in two rounds: the referee knows things the program does not, and what happens to the game stays their responsibility.
Your material is yours
The parties, encounters, tables and notes you write remain yours and remain on your device. We acquire no rights over them, do not read them and keep no copy. If you connect Google Drive, the files land in your Drive and your agreement with Google applies to them.
Availability, and no warranty
The service is provided as is. There is no promise that it is free of errors, that it is always reachable, that the data you enter will not be lost — it lives in your browser, and clearing site data deletes it — or that it will remain available: it may change or close without notice. Take your exports; that is what they are for.
To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for damages arising from the use or the failure of the service. Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights that the law grants and that cannot be excluded by contract.
Fair use
Use it to play. Do not try to break it, overload it, distort the visit counter or harvest data from it automatically. This is not red tape: it is a free service running on a free tier, and whoever exhausts it takes it away from everyone.
Third-party content
Monster names and Challenge Ratings come from the System Reference Document, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. The rest of the Dungeons & Dragons material belongs to Wizards of the Coast; this is unofficial fan content permitted under the Fan Content Policy, not approved or endorsed by Wizards. The full wording and attributions are in the legal notice inside the app.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will say when. Continuing to use the service after a change counts as acceptance.
